Make a difference on your community
For the project at hand, we are trying to make a difference in our community. Our location is the Hamilton Levee. This is located right by the old Air Force hangers. The exact thing we are looking into is helping maintain the whole project of making a levee. We plan to express the importance of keeping this place well-kept, even during this extravagant drought in California. The other things we can do includes removing invasive species and removing litter from the area. Here is a map of the project; http://hamiltonwetlands.scc.ca.gov/files/2011/06/Ham-Site-Map.10-23-12.-higherres1.jpg. It mostly consists of a lot of wetland and a little outlet/inlet. Some other things are things we need to enforce. The trail rules might not be obeyed so someone has to enforce the laws of the trail. Might not seem like much, but the “no hunting” rule may be disobeyed and some of the animals could go extinct in the area, which we don’t want. They have their own “Wildlife Corridor to deal with and without anyone hurting or killing the animals, they can thrive. The other areas include a Tidal Panne, a Tidal Wetland(where our main work will be held), the North Antenna Field, the North Seasonal Wetland, and the South Seasonal Wetland. We contacted the mail people of the project and got our answer of where we could go and what to do. She said this… “You can choose to help grow native plants at the project's nursery or help remove invasive plant species or install native plant species in the site itself.” Aidan and I are still looking for a good time that we can both head out to our location and attempt to help out around the community.
