Rube Goldberg Machine
|
Reflection:
For my first project in High school, the Rube Goldberg machine was a great start. I had an amazing group and an amazing project. If you hit the video to the left you can see the first half of our project, AKA the "Camera Machine." It starts by going down an inclined plane after being activated by a class 2 lever. Then it falls into a cup, making it drop down onto another inclined plane. After all this easy stuff occurs, it gets tougher for it to work. We had so many problems with our pulley system that it took us to the literal last second to figure it out. We had to take deep breaths to keep our tempers from flying. Sure it happened where our group didn't come together like we should've but we got through it like any other smart STEM kids would; through communication and understanding. We had multiple changes in energy like a couple kinetic to potential. Those happened when it hit a lever or just plain falling from one plank to the next. It had 13 steps to it. The class 2 lever was the first step. After activating it, the marble would go down our first inclined plain(I.C) into a cup which leads me to step three. It goes in the cup and falls onto I.C #2. it rolls down that and falls into a Dixie cup filled with weights, thus lifting a wedge that lets a golf ball roll down I.C #3. When this happens, the ball hits a second Dixie cup full of water which flows down our screw into a third which activated a lever which hit a pinwheel that makes a marble start a chain reaction of dominoes that hit a toy car made by Angus. this then shot down a track to take a picture with a camera. this didnt work a lot but still we did a great job and i had a great time making our machine. I had one of the best groups at the time. Couldn't have asked for more. |
